Reverend Percy McIntyre

Pastor

Rev. Percy McIntyre is a native of Atkinson NC. Rev. McIntyre accepted the
call into Ministry while attending Poplar Grove AME Church in Greensboro,
NC and preached his initial sermon there in 2007. He went on to serve as adult Sunday school teacher, bible study leader, men’s ministry leader, and assistant to the Pastor for seven years until he was appointed as Pastor of St. Paul AME Church in Blacksburg VA by Bishop William P. Deveaux in 2014. He served there until he was appointed
as Pastor to Ebenezer AME Church in Roanoke VA by Bishop James L. Davis in 2017. In 2019, Rev. McIntyre was appointed as Pastor to Poplar Grove AME Church in Greensboro, NC by Bishop James L. Davis. Rev. McIntyre recently obtained Master of Divinity degree from Payne Theological Seminary in December 2018. Additionally, his professional career includes employment as a project management consultant in the
chemical process industry. Pastor McIntyre is married to Lydia McIntyre and the couple has three boys, Matthew, Joshua and David. He is dedicated to helping others to develop to their full potential through Christ and lives by Matthew 6:33, “But seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things shall be added unto you.”

Minister Patricia Hopkins- Washington

Associate Minister

Reverend Patricia Hopkins- Washington's relationship with Poplar Grove began at a young age, as she was educated at Poplar Grove School. She went on to attend Jefferson Business School, where she studied Secretarial Science. 
She accepted the call of ministry in January 1991 under the guidance of Rev. Vernell McAdoo. She preached her initial sermon on February 14, 1991. Rev. Washington was admitted to the Annual Conference as Licentiate under Bishop H. H. Brookins. 
In 1994 Min. Washington was ordained as an itinerant deacon under Bishop F. C. James. 
Rev. Washington joined Poplar Grove AME Church as a young child. She has served the church in a vast number of roles throughout the years. In addition to being a member of the church since her early childhood, served as a member of the Junior Choir. Later she served as the church Secretary, a Trustee, Steward and member of the Senior Choir, Culinary Committee and now she currently serves as an Associate Minister. 
Rev. Washington has three biological children, two sons and one daughter. She also has three grandsons and one granddaughter. But she has many other sons and daughters, and grandchildren in the ministry. She has a special loving and supportive bond with the McIntyre children.
